How can I make beef tacos without access to the different dried chillies of Mexico?

I want to do [Barbacoa style tacos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5IXF6ypMQY&ab_channel=CookingConClaudia), but I live in Australia and have a pathetic access to chillies, and the ones we do have access to a South/South East Asian chillies, little pockets of fire.

What can I do?

Not sure how rural you are, but you can probably find Kashmiri chili powder from an Indian store or online. It’s not nearly as spicy as the chilis you might be thinking of such as Thai chilis or cili padi. It won’t have the same flavor as Mexican chilis, but it will still be good.

I could be telling you something you already know, but chilis aren’t required for barbacoa. There are many ways to prepare it. Feel free to check out some other recipes if you aren’t totally committed to using chilis.

Edit: somebody want to explain why this is downvoted? Jesus lol

The most difficult is the Tortilla if you have Chiles from así they as good as Mexican

Barbacoa doesn’t need chiles, you are talking the Tex Mex version or the Mexican version? Because in Mexico we don’t do it with Chile

Ok well to be honestly is not the same barbacoa like the real Mexican made in a hole on the grown , but what I do in a blender I mix garlic water salt and pepper and that is what I use and put to steam and is pretty good 👍🏻

You don’t need to use chilies although it’s good that way too. The barbacoa where I grew up doesn’t use dried chilies. Here is one recipe that’s pretty easy to do. I just do mine in a slow cooker overnight. https://youtu.be/TVbBZF33ApU
