Gigi’s Awesome Chili

1 ½ pounds of hamburger
1 chopped onion
½ bell pepper
Garlic (or garlic powder)
Salt, Pepper, Onion Powder, Accent
2 packs of chili seasoning
28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
1 can of chili med beans
1 can red pinto beans
1 can pork n beans
3 oz of tomato paste
Jalapeno peppers (optional)
¼ cup water for meat

Brown hamburger meat with ¼ cup of water stirring to make meat smooth, no water is needed for bigger chunks of beef, season meat with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, accent, add chopped onions, fresh garlic (opt) and bell pepper cooking meat until brown. Add tomatoes, beans, jalapenos and 2 packs of chili seasoning, let simmer stirring frequently, adding tomato paste to thicken. You can add a touch of sugar if you like it a little sweet. Great with cornbread.

  1. Yes indeed it’s time for a big pot of chili. It’s cold in North Carolina, we actually had to turn our heat on. I love chili with cornbread and also homemade vegetable beef soup. You need to come across the mountain pretty soon and look at our beautiful fall colors on our mountains, God’s country.

  2. Definitely Fall here in south central Washington state! Time to break out the crock pot meals. Thank goodness I don't have picky eaters who don't like onions and bell pepper! A large percentage of my cooking requires onion, bell pepper and fresh garlic!
    We grow all three in our garden. I chop the excess onion and green peppers to freeze in baggies in quantities I'd use for most things like spaghetti, rices, soups, etc. Garlic freezes well, too. I put several to a snack sized baggy then put the whole lot into a gallon freezer bag.
