What a disingenuous article. Yeah, the $5 box is great. But if you want literally anything else that doesn’t come in it as an option, you’re paying just about the same price as the whole box. Yeah, Taco Bell can be cheap… if you only get this one certain box combo.

Fast food companies cannot compete with Taco Bell’s value menu.

Then they are looking in the wrong place Taco Bell isn’t the deal it used to be. I now go to mom and pop Mexican restaurants in my area instead of TB, they have cheaper prices and better food.

There was that thread about the dude who is no longer going to Taco Bell b/c .50 raise and cheesy bean & rice.
Edit: just thought it was funny I saw both of these in the same day.

The thing about TB is that it’s the only food *like* TB. There are plenty of better restaurants, I frequent one near me that has wonderful food, my go to meal is $20 with tip.
But TB gives more variety. For $20, my go to is the GCB box, a fire reward CGC, and usually whatever the LTO is + some cheesy bean and rice burritos for later since they reheat well, or maybe a thing of nachos. The food ain’t better than a Mexican restaurant, but it’s hard to get tacos, burritos and whatever else all in the same meal for the same price.
So the issue with fast food in general is that in the mid-2000s, they all started to focus on freshness of ingredients and menu variety. So everything stopped being fast, and now it’s stopped being cheap too.
In a time of economic hardship, we need fast food restaurants to obliterate their entire menu except for 5 items, prepare those 5 items constantly throughout the day, and hand them to people immediately after they finish ordering. That’s how you sell food fast and cheap.

I don’t think they’ve ever been to TB….they like everyone else don’t have a value menu
