i never liked that marinade, too many spices(not spicy) I prefer the classic asada marinade, orange, lime salt, rub cilantro and white onion, overnight
Usually the older cuts of meats are heavily marinated. But that price is pretty good. Rub some meat tenderizer on that for 5-10 mins then wash off. That cut of meat toughens up
The red is likely mostly if not all achiote. If you want to taste what achiote tastes like, taste some valentina hot sauce.
