Poor Man’s Green Chile Stew

Ingredients:
5 medium red potatoes, chopped into 1 in. pieces
1 lb ground beef
3 tbsp flour (you can use a cornstarch slurry instead, if you’d like)
5 cups water, or beef broth
1 cup chopped green chile
1 tsp kosher salt
1 garlic clove, minced or pressed

Directions:
Peel and chop 5 medium red potatoes and set aside. Cook 1 lb ground beef in a large saucepan until completely browned. Add 3 tbsp flour and cook for another minute. Next add the potatoes. Cook until everything is combined. Now add 5 cups of water/broth and 1 cup chopped green chile. Bring up to a boil. Once boiling, add 1 tsp kosher salt and 1 garlic clove. Mix and turn the heat to low so the stew can cook at a low boil. After about 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft, the stew is ready. Enjoy!

Best to get it on the channel in the future also what stews are or soups are you cooking now in the fall this is my favorite time to make stews and soups and so I think you’re really going to like this one all right I think we have

Everything we need here so let’s get to it let’s start by peeling and chopping five medium red potatoes I like using red potatoes in this recipe I want the potatoes to keep their structure and red potatoes hold up a little bit better than russet potatoes after topping the

  1. Yes!!! I need a green chili meal…was able to turn the red chili recipe into 3 different meals…u rock Sra….J

  2. This is how I make my green chile soup. I usually add onions, a can of stewed tomatoes and zucchini to mine in a chicken broth base. Not traditional, but sure is tasty!

  3. If you want to take this up a few more notches, brown the beef a little more. Add the garlic before the water. Add the liquid once the garlic begins to release the aroma. It’s essentially the same thing but a little Maillard reaction will go a long way in bringing out a little more flavor.

  4. Green of course. Love the green chili stew. The Mineshaft in Madrid , NM has an amazing burger called the Mad Green Chilie burger.

  5. On cold days like this I love Green Chile Stew, especially if I feel sick or have sore throat.

  6. Look so delicious! We usually make green chile stew with pork but this looks so much easier and faster. I gotta give this a try with my remaining chile from last year 🤤

  7. hints: no flour, this just makes it pasty. you want a nice clear broth that isn't murky. It also needs a pinch of chicken bouillon, some onions, some stewed tomatoes, a pinch of cumin of oregano.

  8. Looks delicious! I'm in NM and just made my pot of chile verde stew. I don't use cumin in mine but I will in a small batch one day to sample it. Don't want to ruin a whole pot of green Hatch–it's like g😄ld to me

  9. No onions? Also, why bother peeling red potatoes? Anyway, I make something like this, but I add some chorizo to the beef.

  10. The poor we will always have with us. I pray for them to never have to starve. I’m thankful for gifts of giving and thank you God for cheerful giving. Amen 🙏 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for they shall be filled. I’m glad about that. Thank you God for your Great love and mercy and favor. Amen 🙏 😊
