For those unfamiliar, a SD style carne asada burrito has 3 elements for the filling. Meat, salsa fresca, and guacamole/avocado. No rice, no beans, no cheese.
I used my family’s recipe for the tortillas, mesquite grilled diezmillo, salsa fresca and avocado mixed with salt and lime juice. My family is from Sonora and the meat is of that style but the burritos there are different (and delicious) but this SD style is really a childhood favorite of mine I would get all the time.

This looks delicious! I make my own San Diego style Mexican food. We moved from San Diego to a small southern/mid-Atlantic city that only has Tex-mex. I don’t want all my food with queso please. The closest Mexican food or Asian food store is at least an hour away.
Unffff…I need this.
I’m usually a bit ambivalent about burritos, but man, you make it look as good as it gets. You cooked the meat perfectly, and those tortillas remind me of my time in Sonora. Good job.
I lived in San Diego for 20 years, and I miss the food every day. Seeing your burrito pic instantly made me think of being back there.
Don’t forget the pickled jalapenos and carrots on the side 😋
I need to go to San Diego or your house. Looks delicious 😋

Wtf… I need to miss home more often
At first I was gonna ask where in SD you got that 😫 so legit

Wow that tortilla looks glorious. Def doesnt look like your average mass production plastic bag tortilla pack.

What seasoning/marinade did you use for the meat?
Yummy!
Looks good!
This looks perfect
That looks just like a local Roberto’s restaurant burrito
Wow, looks delicious
Bro let me come over and learn how to make this…I want this type of Mexican food and not just TexMex
El Indio would be proud 🫡
Totally get this. From USA and now live in northern Europe, my neeeeeed for decent Mexican, Italian, American Chinese was through the roof. Finally gave up and am making it myself. Steep curve for some things, but most are within my skill set. And o m g so good.
What cut of beef did you use?
Diezmillo works so well when you chop it up like this. Great burritos and tacos without the ridiculous price of ranchera.
I want to preface by saying this is amazing work by OP, it looks like it hits hard. I do have to ask though, how come whenever anything is posted on here that isn’t traditionally Mexican food it’s written off as Tex-Mex. However, this burrito which is clearly from San Diego (or other Cali-Mex foods) have no such criticism? Is Tex-Mex lesser than Cali-Mex despite both originating from a mix of border cuisines?
It’s hard to find any other places in the continental U.S. that have as good of Mexican food as California does. Not a fan of Tex-Mex, so Texas is out for me.
Looks legit!
Wow. Well done. Looks amazing.
Carnitas approves- can you uhhhh send me onea them gracias
We gotta find the other Mexican food usernames and form some kind of coalition
Yasssss
Can I door dash one of those bad boys
Better looking than any taqueria burrito near my city
Killing it! Toss some sour cream and fries in there for a proper SoCal burrito.
You made the tortilla? Respek.
San Diegan here, you killed it. Absolutely looks delicious!
Legit thought this was a San Diego subreddit post before reading the post. Well done
Looks good.
San Diego is the Mexican food capital of the US.
Homemade tortillas?!?! This guy burritos
I miss authentic Sonoran style Mexican food. It’s the best, in my opinion.
