Didn’t even know you could ask to have your cheesy bean & rice burrito grilled
Literally just messing around the app to think about what to order today. Then I saw this. Has anyone here actually tried doing this? If so, how was it?
Now try swapping the refried beans for black beans and you have the best and cheapest item on the menu.

I tried to get my 5 layer grilled the other day for something different, but luck. At least it isn’t something I paid extra for.

This is a big reason they’re pushing the app and the in store digital kiosks so much.
A lot of people are embarrassed to add all of these things but most people just have no idea that you can do this stuff. I read a good article from, I think, Nate Silver that talked about a big reason fast food has gotten so expensive the past couple of years is that we’re just not ordering the same stuff (that and delivery charges) largely thanks to these apps. Soft shell tacos have turned into soft shell tacos + guac for an additional 90¢ each, etc.

Downside to it is that you’re more likely to get less filling that way. I stopped ordering items grilled because of that

One of the taco bells in my area is HORRIBLE with customizations. They will never grill it and they rarely add the add ons when you pay for them. And they don’t remake it. The OTHER taco bell is kickass and just knocks the other one out of the water

You can get every burrito except the bean burrito grilled. I assume it’s already too soft and everything will just flow out

Speaking of grilling burritos, here’s a little hack that I’ve found. For the store I go to the grilled cheese burrito is $5 and the cheesy double beef burrito is under $3. The double beef one has all the same ingredients as the grilled cheese, just without the chipotle sauce. So if you add chipotle to the cheesy double beef burrito and just request to have it grilled then you can get the grilled cheese burrito for 2 dollars cheaper. One time I did that and they actually put the 3 cheese on the outside and made it exactly like the grilled cheese burrito

Sometimes I get a few old couples order the simplest items and ask for them to be grilled. It’s entirely possible, the crunchwrap flour tortilla is made of the same stuff as the burrito tortilla, but anything else (like the grilled cheese burrito) has to have parchment paper to not stuck, so there are limits.

I get a large Mountain Dew Baja Blast and have them grill it. It’s excellent!

I add chicken and pico, swap the sauce to avacado ranch. Grilled. Boom, $3.34 grilled stuft chicken burrito.
