Here is a very popular dish on a Chinese menu, often called shredded chilli chicken, its one of the most ordered as asked for dished for us to cook, the sauce is very similar to sweet and sour, but has a rich deeper flavour with a really nice chilli kick, you can make this with out the chilli of course, but it makes this pop in our eyes. We’ve done an air fryer version of this before which can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OI1wqwfc7PE
Ingredients:
The chicken
1 large chicken breast
8 tbsp potato starch
1/3 tsp salt
1/3 tsp MSG
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 large egg white
Enough veg oil to deep fry in
The finishing
1/2 finely sliced onion
2 tbsp rehydrated garlic granules
2-3 sliced sweet red and green chillies
1/2 tsp chilli flakes
15ml quad strength orange squash (not diluted)
3 heaped tbsp ketchup
20ml white vinegar
3 heaped tbsp white sugar
100ml water
1 heaped tsp hoi sin sauce
1/3 tsp salt
1/3 tsp MSG
1/3 tsp Dark soy Sauce
1/4 tsp red food colouring
2 tbsp veg oil
Potato starch slurry

I do make the sauces and other ingredients fresh, apart from the chicken itself. I've found a brand of coated chicken strips that I just can't beat at home, so as a saddo single I take the easy way. Great video as always guys. 👊👍
Ps, I use kashmiri chilli powder instead of the food colouring for things like this, it is really bright red.
I know this must sound incredibly basic but if you're buying the tinned hoisin sauce how do you store it? Transfer it to a jar?
What a great relationship you and your mum have, you make cooking look a bundle of fun as well!
😊👌
What a way to ruin my post Christmas diet, you should be thoroughly ashamed, thank you…
Perfect!! 👍🏻
That looks amazing!
Thanks for this 👌
That's an outstanding explanation of any dish!
I love this channel! I’m wondering where do I find the tins of hoisin? 🙏🏼❤️
This looks amazing , I tried the crispy beef you did I got into such a mess 😂 and it was chewy so I may try this one with sticky rice
Great vid!
I notice that you sell the elusive 'creamed corn' in your online shop. Do you only use this for soup? I ask as I've had a few cans for a while now and experimented with it over shallow fried fish battered in cornstarch, and it was fantatic! I've never seen it in a restaurant, so don't really have any comparison to improve what I did – have you got any plans on creamed corn main dish videos?
Love all your recipes! I'd love a meal prep vid, would be so helpful. Tell Choo I'm on the same level as her with singing 🤣🤣🤣 x ps bought the books for my friend to teach her how to cook this year
I really shouldn't watch these video's at this time in the morning. Now I want crispy chilli chicken for breakfast.
I'll be making this at the weekend, looks great. Been watching you guys since lockdown (the days of Spagren 😆) and bought the 1st book and about 9kg of Lucky Boat noodles at the time! keep up the good work.
