Instructions
00:00 Introduction
00:33 Heat oil in a dutch oven or large pot over just above medium heat?
00:55 Add onion and pepper and cook several minutes, until softened.
01:33 Add garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
01:52 Add ground turkey and cook until mostly browned but some pink still remains. Add all spices (chili powder, ancho chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt) and stir until well distributed through the turkey/veggies.
03:20 Make a small space in the bottom of your pan and add the tomato paste. Cook this, stirring occasionally, about 30-60 seconds (until caramelized and deeper in color).
03:47 Add Worcestershire sauce, beans, tomatoes, and chilis.
04:05 Slowly drizzle in chicken broth, stir well, bring to a simmer.
05:10 Allow chili to simmer for 30 minutes before serving (flavor develops as it simmers!).
05:30 Serve warm, topped with desired toppings (don’t skip the sour cream!)

Notes
Storing
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days. This chili may also be frozen, allow it to cool then place in an airtight container, seal tightly, and freeze for up to 2-3 months. I usually press a piece of parchment paper directly against the surface of the chili before sealing and freezing to help prevent frostbite. I will thaw overnight in the refrigerator and then reheat it on the stove top.

  1. Good job! I'm going to make this. I like trying different chili recipes. Thanks for mentioning swapping 1 can black bean for 1 can of kidney beans, I'm going to try that too! It looks really good! Thanks

  2. I make a chili that leaves everyone moaning, and it's actually Mexican based with a combo of pinto beans, dark red kidney beans, and red beans. To season, I use jalapeños, chunky tomatoes, onions, green bells, and an enchilada based sauce. It it freakin' awesome.

  3. Hi Sam. Your chili is still my goto chili. I am eating healthier these days so perhaps I will give turkey a try. I hope all is well with you and your family.

  4. This chili looks great! If you’re ever interested in trying something new, I highly recommend a version called “chili Colorado”. You will need whole, dry, smoked chilis which may be difficult to find up there, but maybe you know someone in the south who can mail some to you. They’re cheap in the grocery store if you can find them. The recipe that I use is identical to the one on the Certified Angus Beef channel. Cooking with whole chili peppers will make a big difference IMHO as someone from Texas. There’s a famous restaurant in Austin called The Texas Chili Parlor and I’m certain that their chili recipe is similar to the one I mentioned above. Awesome video!!!!

  5. Love how you’ve kept it healthy while packing in so much flavor. It’s perfect for busy weeknights! Thank you for sharing this healthier alternative! ❤
