Goan Mackerel Curry | Bangdyachi Kodi / Hooman | Goan Fish Curry Rice

Ingredients:
-2 Big Size fresh mackerels
-1 Cup Freshly grated coconut (1/2 Coconut)
-4 Button Chillies
-1 Byadagi Chilli
-1 Green Chilli
-1 tblspn Coriander Seeds
-1/2 tspn turmeric powder
-Marble sized Tamrind
-2-3 Kokum
-10-12 Teppal (Szechuan Pepper)
-Salt to taste

Method:
-Cut mackerel into desired size pieces, apply salt & set aside for 15-20 minutes.
-Into a mixer jar, add grated coconut, dried chillies (Button & Byadagi), coriander seeds, turmeric powder, tamarind & water. Grind all these ingredients into fine paste.
-Transfer ground paste into a pan, adjust the curry consistency by adding water & bring it to boil.
-Once curry boils, add salt, green chilli, Kokum, crushed Teppal & mix well.
-Now add mackerel pieces and let the fish cook for 3-4 minutes on a low-medium flame. Avoid stirring the curry at this stage as the fish pieces may break. Instead swirl the pan around to give it a mix.
-After simmering for 3-4 minutes, your mackerel curry is ready to serve with some hot ukade xit.

  1. We generally don't put coriander seeds when we use thephla in our hooman..and lastly we add a lil bit of coconut oil.
    Do give this a try too❤
