How to Make Homemade Chili | Cookin’ With Nephew

In this episode, Nephew walks you through how to properly brown the beef, build layers of flavor with seasonings, and simmer the chili low and slow to achieve the perfect texture. Using easy pantry staples like onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, oregano, brown sugar, tomato paste, broth, and a mix of beans, this recipe creates a rich, satisfying chili that is both comforting and customizable.

Serve Nephew’s Chili with toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, avocado, green onions, or tortilla chips. Whether you prefer a mild or spicy version, this recipe adapts easily to your taste.

  1. Damn Nephew! How you got the Jordan 11 Gamma and they ain't even out yet (they come out on the 13th)!!

  2. We need smell-a-vision. My tip to a good chili ( no such thing as a bad chili) add equal parts of ground pork sausage meat to ground beef..

  4. Happy Sunday nephew, great job! That chili looks delicious, making it this week for dinner! 🔥🔥🔥🤌🏾 Nephew you look and sound just like your uncle AB. 🤎

  5. Honestly – you missed a couple huge steps – which is:
    1) Adding some more chilies – any kind of chilies (besides just chili powder). Can be jalapenos. Can be a habajenero. But chop it up and throw it in there.
    2) Deglazing the onions and meat with some kind of alcohol. For chili – usually beer. Can use red wine or white wine though. Can use vodka or tequila or whiskey too – but just get some kind kind of deglaze on those onions. Let those onions cook on low with the spices – for a while. Then add meat – then deglaze with the alcohol. That step is crucial.
    3) If you want to add instant kick to your chili – just add one can of adobo chilies in chipotle.
    4) Add some lime juice and cumin. Let it simmer for an hour on low….
    5) can replace those diced tomatoes with a small can of tomato paste…

Also – add more salt and pepper…

I'm a chef. I can taste this through the screen. It's good. But if you don't add those steps? No kick – and less savory flavor – so kinda bland. Not trying diss nephew vid – but these are just some simple steps that you shouldn't miss – at least consider…

  6. Shout out to Mrs ilean I got 3rd place in the chili cook off using the recipi in the cook book from ab and Mr make it happen
