How to make the ULTIMATE Chili Chicken | Low Oil Chili Chicken Appetizer Recipe at home

Learn how to make the low oil version of the classic chili chicken recipe!

Ingredients:

For Chicken marination:
• 250 gms boneless chicken breast
• ½ teaspoon black pepper powder
• 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
• ½ teaspoon corn flour
• Salt to taste

For corn flour slurry:
• 1 tablespoon corn flour
• 2 tablespoons of water

For the sauce mix:
• 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
• 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
• 1 tablespoon green chili sauce
• 1 tablespoon tomato sauce

Also required:
• 2 chopped spring onions
• 5 cloves of garlic – finely chopped
• 3 green chilies cut diagonally
• ½ cup diced onions
• 1/3 cup diced red bell peppers
• 1/3 cup diced yellow bell peppers
• 1/3 cup diced green bell peppers
• White sesame seeds (optional)

Preparation Time: 15 mins

Cooking Time: 5-7 mins

Method:
1. Marinate chicken with salt, black pepper powder, dark soy sauce and corn flour for 10 mins
2. Mix corn flour and water in a bowl and keep aside
3. Make the sauce base by mixing dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, green chili sauce, tomato sauce in a bowl
4. Add 2 drops of oil in a non-stick pan, and fry the marinated chicken in high heat for 1 min
5. Remove the chicken after a min and keep aside
6. Use the same pan in high heat to fry the spring onion whites and garlic for 15 secs, then add the green chilies and fry for another 15 secs
7. Add the onion petals and fry for 30 secs
8. Add the red, yellow, and green bell peppers one by one and fry them for 30 secs each
9. Cover with lid and cook for 1 min in low heat
10. Remove the lid after a min and mix everything well
11. Add the fried chicken to the pan and pour the sauce mix over it
12. Mix everything well, and coat the chicken and veggies with the sauce
13. Pour the corn flour slurry and give a good mix
14. Switch off the gas and serve hot
15. Chili chicken is ready, garnish with some spring onion greens and white sesame seeds
