Biberli Ekmek aka Turkish pepper bread – Ramadan Recipe Ep: 04 ♥️
Ingredients: (Makes 5)
100ml milk
100ml water
1/2 tbsp sugar
1¼ tsp yeast
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
2 cup of all purpose flour
For the topping:
1/2 medium sized onion, chopped
1/2 medium sized red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
1½ tbsp sesame seeds
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 tbsp red bell pepper paste
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp chopped parsley
Recipe:
1. Add the milk, water, sugar, and instant yeast to a bowl and whisk well. Add in the olive oil, salt and mix well. Gradually add the flour and stir until a dough forms. Spread 1 tsp olive oil on your palm and spread on the dough surface. Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and let it rest for 50 minutes to let the dough rise.
2. Add all the ingredients for the toppings to a bowl and mix well until combined.
3. Grease your hands with olive oil and deflate the dough by pulling the edges toward the center (Do it a few times). Divide the dough into equal sized balls and add it to a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Flatten the dough balls using your hands (grease your hands with olive oil to prevent sticking) and spread 1 tbsp of the topping mixture evenly on the flattened dough.
4. Bake for 20 minutes at 180°C in a preheated oven. When it’s baked, let it cool for a couple of minutes. Sprinkle the chopped parsley and enjoyy!
