Hyped. 👍
Yumz, Love a Chilli, & yours looks delicious.
I make a big Chilli, that does us 2 for 6X1 weekly meals, when portioned out in freezer bags. It's so versatile too.
Those Taco beans make great Beanburgers as well.
TFS, & take care WW & Family. 👍🌶️ 🙂
Lovely recipe, and great for 4 people.
I would have used a cheap packet of sausages crumbled and fried rather than the loose pepper, to improve the protein profile, or a pack of bacon bits.
Awesome
Excellent job sir
I always add a tin of tomatoes and usually make it with minced beef – didn’t notice you adding salt – was this on purpose?
Love a bean chilli!! Very nice, I think you chose the right ingredients with the fresh sweetness from the pepper.
Looks delicious what did you cook the rice in ?
I live just outside Dayton, Ohio. We're in SW Ohio about 1 1/2-2 hours north of Cincinnati. A thing here is chili on spaghetti noodles. You can also top w cheese or diced onions. Chili Mac is another similar dish.
I've noticed I mostly use chili powder and cumin to get the flavor profile I'm looking for. I usually add garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste. Maybe some Italian seasoning.
I've googled the recipe for chili flavor packets and I usually have most if not all of the ingredients already in my pantry.
I just made chili the other day using stuff from my pantry, fridge and freezer. I used ground breakfast sausage, bell peppers and onions (I usually keep some diced in my fridge to use throughout the week.), can of Rotel (diced tomatoes and chili pepper blend undrained. Mild or medium heat.), Some rinsed dried kidney beans I added straight in. I just kept eye on liquid and kept at a low boil until kidney beans softened. I made cornbread and served with that. Though I also like with peanut butter sandwiches dipped in to eat a bite at a time. (Just creamy peanut butter on white sandwich bread. It's the sweet creamy combo w the spicy heat of the chili. My dad did this. Not sure if this is also a Midwest thing.)
I love a mixed bean chilli as I can't stand minced beef (or any other meat) I usually use a tin of plum tomatoes with my beans and my own spice and herb mix. Makes a lovely filling meal and toping for jacket potatoes too. Well done Karl .
Wonderful! Did you save your pepper seeds to dry out and plant for your garden? Just start them inside once they are dry.
I do love a chilli.
Seeing your shopping hauls has encouraged me to seek out my local Aldi. I hope to find some good bargains.
That chilli looks amazing
Another great video Karl it looks very tasty, really enjoying the £1 meals great for families or those that batch cook. Jamie Oliver gave a tip to open a pepper, hold the pepper cupped in both hands then use both thumbs together to push in the stalk, you then just pull apart using your thumbs and the stalk and seeds pop out all in one, hope this tip is useful to others 😊
Looking at those plates makes my mouth watering…
You show a lot of creativity with your meals and channel,
so your video's are really interesting to watch,
and I appreciate that you stay true to the veganuary challenge all the way too the end!
I also appreciate seeing the great on screen friendship that your cat and dog clearly have ❤
If you have any rice and chili leftovers,
you can mix the rice and chili sauce and put them in a burrito wrap with some (vegan) cheese for a later lunch..
You've probably already thought about this 😊
i think when it cools down will try this recipe in the slow cooker this will be perfect as a batch meal ty dear
looks amazing!
Curious though for either mince or something that can be minced / ground whats the cheapest meat there you could have used in this? Not discounting that it wouldnt fit in the budget im just curious 🙂
Here in the US at walmart you can get a ground/mince turkey 1lb (453g) tube for 1.98$
Looks really good. 😍
That would have cost 3 times as much here in the states.
NIGHT 🌙 😴 🌃 🌙😴EVERYONE 🌙HOPE YOU HAVE A FABULOUS WEEKEND 👌
Loose veg are great for we who're cooking for one on a restricted budget.
Making this to share with my step-daughter!
Please keep the $1 meals coming!
I love quick, cheap and healthy tinned food Karl. Great stuff mate 👍 I really enjoyed this one… again, I can't complain about your brilliant channel with a super community. Best wishes for the weekend Ty 🙏😊
The cat…the dog..beautiful supervisors…I do the Jamie Oliver trick for the pepper…just press the stem end with your thumb until it pops into the pepper..remove… and there is no waste around the top…no need to cut around it..
Looks great. I love mushrooms in my chilli too
Great tasting and filling recipe. If your budget would allow and or you are using some ingredients from the store cupboard a little grated cheese is a nice addition either to the chilli or melted over the tortilla chips under a grill before serving.
Wow! The price for all that in the US is closer to $10 USD. We have to buy dry ingredients in bulk, grow the onion, and make the tortilla chips from scratch to get it under $4. Well done.
Excellent idea, cheap and healthy. I love chilli Con Carne, so I'll make this next week
This is my sort of meal; I shall be making this, thank you 🙂
in 🇨🇦 and we’re $2.00 to your pound – that said the cost of our groceries is out of control – best I could do was at a discount shop called No Frills and all the ingredients were $14.62 or $3.65 for a single person = rice $4.00 chips $2.75 seasoning $1.00 kidney beans $1.50 mixed beans $1.50 red pepper $2.64 yllw onion $1.23 totalling $14.62 – thnx for the great meal ideas just have to dream on about budget meals 🇨🇦🙏
That would be breakfast, lunch and dinner for me 😀
Hyped 🎉
🥰🥰🥰
I will be making this one! Great video again. Love this channel!
A one pound meal for a family is fantastic. And it’s something any family could eat
And as my mum and dad woukd say,you won't go hungry onnit
The spice packs are great value. It would cost about the same to make up your own.
You doubled up on kidney beans. Maybe a can of pinto beans? 49p in tescos. But this video is perfect for student cooking, thanks x
I do like a veg chilli for a change now and again.
1 pound meals is a great idea for a series.
Looks amazing!!! I often enjoy a bowl of homemade chili and eat using corn chips instead of a spoon.
I love this video, cracking job Karl.😊❤
Great meal for £1 love these ideas keep them coming please 😊
I do a Mexican rice with similar ingredients. Saute onion, garlic, add dicedc carrots , beans( canned or cooked dry), diced canned tomatoes. Add chilli con carne/ taco seasoning. Add rice and water, cook. Garnish with cilantro and serve. If you have sour cream you can serve that on the side too , also tortilla chips. Alternatively I make a salsa for the chips.
Looks fantastic!
You don't need to pronounce the 'll' in tortilla. You really shouldn't actually.
Thank you, Love the inexpensive meal ideas✨💜✨
Yum ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your £1 pound meal
Would love this chilli on a jacket potato with cheese, probably over budget 😊
