Overwintering Giant Chocolate Habanero

Hi all,

Overwintering a 1-year-old Giant Chocolate Habanero indoors in my living room.

Now the top of the main stem has turned black/brown and looks dead, but the lower stem is still green and firm.
Looks like leaves are having a difficult time.

Should I prune back to the green wood?
Does this look like normal overwinter dieback?

Thanks!

My intuition says leave it to do what it do. Too much trauma could shock it. I say just give it a habitable environment and let nature do its thang.
