Is it just me or does the chalupa seem like it should have a very crunchy/fried shell?

Almost every time I've got one it's always just very soft pita type for the 'shell' but feel like the picture makes it seem like it should be very crunchy/fried

I am pretty sure it is fried, always feels greasier than the cheesy gordita crunch and I think it’s the same shell

It is fried and kinda crunchier imo

Employee here, we do fry the chalupas but its a very light fry. Its only in the oil for ~30 seconds. And as the other comment said we actually do use the same ingredient for the chalupas and the cheesy gordita outside shell but the gorditas in not fried

Its a very specific timing on them to get it fried just right. Most people mess them up tbh but when you get one thats perfect its so good.
