Most chili recipes use ground beef, but this version uses real chunks of lean beef for deeper flavor and a better texture. Slow simmered with tomatoes, kidney beans, and warm spices, this hearty beef chili becomes rich, thick, and incredibly satisfying.
If you enjoy proper comfort food cooking, one-pot meals, and big bowls of chili, this recipe is simple, affordable, and perfect for batch cooking.
This style of chili has a more rustic, stew-like texture, making it perfect with rice, cornbread, baked potatoes, or tortilla chips.

Hi Rik. Thanks for the beef and bean chilli recipe. It looks a bit like Stagg chilli but only better.
Would you consider doing a "Sloppy Joe" recipe?
Cheers mate 👍🤤

Oh Rik, I’m in awe!! Love beef chili . This recipe is the best so far. Tyfs.
OMG! I eat it alllll alone! lol!
❤❤❤
Love this! Swapping out the butter beans for black beans, cheddar out for Monterey jack, but otherwise a total WINNER!
Love your Indian recipes. Hope you have great health and happiness.
I made chili that way once, because I had some shredded beef left over from making barbecue. I wanted to use it up but didn't want to make barbecue and then it hit me-make chili with it. It came out well. I've used shredded pork, too.
I have always used mince, but watching this, I will make my next one with beef. Thanks Ric.
At least he uses American culinary terms for his followers 'Peppers' in stead of 'Capsicum' and other terms for them.
Adding the rice on the side is awesome. Yum.
If in doubt, have a chilli or a curry. Satisfaction guaranteed, Rik! Looks fab! 😊
The story goes that in the days of chuck wagon cooking on the prairie cubed beef was what they made chili with. I have done it that way too,I like to use black beans, and pinto, not fond of kidney beans but I’m not sure why. I like butter beans or Limas as we know them, they feel more like a Mediterranean,or Middle Eastern sort of bean to me.I have some nice lean beef in the freezer, but I need peppers, shopping on Sunday.😊
Yummy, thanks Rik.
What a grand idea for a change moving from winter warmers into lighter new season meals. Nice one Rik thanks
This is a definite one to cook. Looked absolutely delicious! Another one saved. Thank you Rik. 💕
Oh wow. That looks delicious and amazing. I can't wait to make this. Thanks, Rik.
Hi Rick – yes, it does your head in when there is so much water injected into the meat that you have paid for! A right rip-off.
This recipe is 'proper' and very traditional type of Colarado Chilli con Carne. Mince is a modern thing for chillies… so this harks back to the old cowboy recipes (sorry – I'm a bit of a traditionalist with chillies!) – of course you can make it also very very hot. But this is a nice flavourful and filling dish. I reckon best served with corn bread or flat bread… rice is a 'new' thing 🙂
Hello Rick!… This is gonna be our next recipe…
Those sausage and bell peppers were a success last Sunday… it's gonna be a cult one, like one pot chorizo pasta, blue cheese sauce, any pasta lasagna …
Love and Light from Brazil!
Leave the seeds in, it makes a difference.
Great recipe Rik, love a good beef chili 😊
I've never seen carrot in chili. Any specific reason for carrots in your dish, sweetness?
I hate butter beans, any suggestion Rik as a replacement?
Morning 🌄 Rik looks very tasty 😋 thanks for sharing Johno Whyalla South Australia 🇦🇺
Lovely that Rik, I often make spag Bol with shin beef it's so nice and much richer in flavour than mince . Thanks my lovely friend 👍
Looks absolutely delicious! Very appetising thank you Chef Rik! Best chef on yt! ♥️🙌🏼
The Bob Ross of cooking..
Rik, you are an amazing chef, rivalling any in some fancy hotel. So many fabulous recipes.
Some alternate things: fry the beef with some cumin and chili rubbed on along with the salt and pepper. Also, not all chili has tomato of any kind in it. The color is powdered chilies, usually of different kinds. This is also the only chili I've ever heard of that has carrots in it. Cocoa is good. So is adding a bottle of good lager (not too hoppy to avoid bitterness).
