Do peppers need sticks?

the people I've talked to are super insistent that they need to be supported when they're bearing fruits.

Sticks are used to help them stay upright, not usually to hold fruiting branches or anything but I’ve had to do that very rarely. If you had a fan on indoor plants and built it up strong enough they generally should not have any issues outside but you’ll know pretty quickly on outdoor plants if they need support or not. I just use a bamboo stick for plants that don’t stay upright as well but cages or pretty much anything work great.

I’ve had to add support to really productive Poblano (grew really tall and tree-like and then sprouted peppers at the extremeties) and got nervous and added them to cubanelle plants in the past, but it probably wasn’t necessary.

  3. The only one i need a stick for were Serrano this year, they are much much taller then my other varieties

Or cages. I use string myself.
