The Riverside Citizens Association’s Annual Chili Feed was a Hugh success!!!
Thank you to everyone that volunteered your time and talent! An event like this one can not be successful without a community of giving people working together to give everyone an enjoyable evening. There are so many of you to thank. Know that your gift of service to your community is greatly appreciated!!
All-in-all the evening was delightful! There were an estimated 220 people in attendance. Paula Cody worked many hours in the kitchen with help from a few neighbors to prepare the traditional chili. Meg made a wonderful chili Verde. Sue Friend managed to coordinate many, many yummy desserts. Laura and Steve provided grilled Hot Dogs!! Many volunteers worked at keeping up with the pots and pans, Trish, Kathy, Pat, Claire, Carrie, Myko, I’m sure I’m missing some! Setup and tear down were taking care of by long-time reliable volunteers, Ken, Ed, Missy, Duane, Jan, Frankie, and many others.
Thank you to The Wichita Eagle’s Denise Neil for judging our first-ever chili contest. 6 willing souls made chili for the contest. Denise picked the winner! Marta Holbrook won with her Bloody Mary Chili! The winner was awarded $100, which was quickly donated back to RCA. I think we’ll do this again next year, so get your chili recipes honed!
