Chili is the perfect dish to warm you up for a crisp fall night. It’s hearty, versatile, and easy to make. There are so many variations of chili, from vegan, vegetarian, white chili, stew chili, no beans, with beans, spicy, and mild. We decided to make a turkey chili with kidney beans. We paired it with 19 Crimes Cali Red. This wine is very popular because it features Snoop Dogg but it is actually a really tasty Petite Sirah/Zinfandel Blend. The wine is a full-bodied wine with deep colors and high tannins. Petite refers to the size of the berries, which are small with a high skin-to-juice ratio. The wine pairs well with barbecued meats, roasted pork, and spicy and meat chili. The 19 Crimes Cali Red has strong notes of black and blue fruits. We enjoyed it because it wasn’t overly dry and had a hint of sweetness at the finish.
