No visit to Calcutta’s Chinatowns (especially Tangra) is complete without an order of chilli chicken. The dry chilli chicken works as a snack, appetiser as well as a side. The gravy chilli chicken is more popular as a side to either chowmein or with fried rice
Recipe:
Preparation time : 40 mins
Cooking time: 20 -25 mins
Serves 4 portions
For chilli chicken marination :
500 gms boneless chicken
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp crushed black pepper
3 tbsp corn flour
2 eggs
Salt as required
Mix it well
Fry the chicken in medium heat
After 5 minutes flip the chicken and cook
It takes 10 minutes to fry the chicken
For the gravy :
2 tbsp refined oil
15-18 finely chopped garlic
5-6 green chillies
2 onion petals
1 diced capsicum
2 diced seedless tomato
1 tbsp soy sauce
Salt as required
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
Add the fried chicken
Flip and toss
1/4 cup water
Garnish it white sesame seed and ginger julienne
