Foundation Chili. This chili recipe is the basic building blocks of all of my chili recipes. I start with this basic recipe and add to it, creating unique and flavorful chili recipes. Try it out and let me know what you think. If you add anything new, let me know, I’d Love to hear about it.
Recipe
Chili
Ingredients:
2.5 – 3 lb Chuck Roast 1 inch cubes
1 – 1.5 lb Ground Beef
1 Medium onion – diced
3 – 4 cloves of garlic – diced
1.5 cups of diced tomatoes (or one can)
1 T of molasses
3 T of brown sugar
1 bottle or can of beer
3 T of Chili mix
1 – 1 ½ T of Oil (Avocado)
Chili Mix
3 T of Chili Powder
2 T of Smoked Paprika
1 T of Paprika
1 T of Salt
1 T of Black Pepper
1 T of Granulated Garlic
½ tsp of Cayenne pepper
1 tsp of Ground Cumin
Directions:
Make the Chili mix and set aside. You will combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Dice onions, garlic and tomatoes
Add oil to pot and saute onions
Cut Chuck roast into 1 inch cubes
After onions are sauted, add Cubed Chuck roast to pot and cook until brown.
Add Ground beef to pot and cook until brown
Add tomatoes and garlic, then stir thoroughly. (If you are adding spicy peppers add at this time)
Add Molasses, Brown Sugar, Chili Mix, and beer and stir. (If you want to create the basic Chili mix, but then decide to spice it up, add your powdered or ground chili at this time)
Cook on Medium heat until simmering. Once simmering move temperature to low and cook for 1 – 1 ½ hours (Stir occasionally)
Once it thickens, serve with bread, chips, cheese or whatever toppings you’d like.
