I’m up in Canada and I’m not blessed with many good local Mexican places so I’ve started trying to learn to cook it myself. Originally the goal was just to make occasional tacos for the family but having the press and a great market that carries way more Central/South American items then I’d expect I find I’m working it into my regular routine. This lunch would have been a peanut butter sandwich last year for sure.

My bad on not including tortillas, tbh this could have been a text post. I was more excited about what tortillas have unlocked for me rather than these tortillas themselves. I don’t have pictures of other meals made this year but I just got a new phone with a decent camera so I’ll post pics of anything I make that feels sub-worthy. Lots of grilling plans this summer and I’m definitely having a go at my favorite cochinita pibil.
Here’s the last of the leftover tortillas. These were the first made and pan maybe wasn’t hot enough but I’m figuring it out. This is Maseca masa harina but I’ll be trying Torti Masa as well as some stuff that I think is made locally.

Looks good. Are those flour tortillas? I have never made flour tortillas with a press, only corn. I might try it.
Mexico is not in Central America, nor is is in South America. And since the food from those places is quite different from Mexican food, you are lucky you can find them in those stores.
