Mexican Food

As a member of the Asian Community, I have recognised this crime to the food my brethren have farmed and I want to inform you, my Mexican brethren, of what we believe is a crime to food. I would like to see your opinions on the matter.

  1. Im mexican and i dont like jalapeño if its not fresh, the red bell pepper might taste good, i like to add finely chopped ginger to my red rice and peas and yellow corn

Im sitting here in my truck eating a Walmart brand tuna packet (italian flavored) on bread. It is a over salted and nasty, a for real crime against food everywhere, but they were on sale for 80 cents so I had to try.

That rice looks divine in comparison, I need something bland and tasteless now.

I put hot sauce and lemon on “mexican rice”, I don’t do that on real mexican rice, but here we call it red rice (arroz rojo), arroz a la jardinera o simplemente arroz (and by default is red with tomato sauce or white with chicken broth), we have those almost ready to eat punches too but not widely used.

  4. KaiJonez

Adding hot pepper to something doesn’t automatically make it “Mexican”

  5. Michipunda

I bet those “mexican style spices” are just a shit ton of cumin and a ton of paprika, which I don’t get why they think we use them like that. We do use cumin, but not as much and not on everything, and as for paprika, I don’t know her.

  6. El_SanchoPantera

Jalapeños in rice? Maybe a Serrano.

  7. No-Argument-9331

Ready to eat Mexican rice also exists in Mexico, what’s the problem?

  8. IrohBanner

If the bag says “Mexican style” and there’s not a single logo of “Made in México” leave the bag in the shelf and keep moving.

  9. Zealousideal_Bet_248

There is no wrong way to make food. If it tastes good it’s the right way. Gatekeeping only stifles creativity and experimentation in the kitchen

  10. fabiolaNarvaez

Habría que darse la oportunidad de probarlo

  11. Electrical_Gur4664

Wait till you se what we do to asian food in Mexico, search for the menus chinese/Japanese/corean restaurants from the city, you’ll see.

  12. KeithWorks

Gringo here. Can someone give me the simplest of recipes for Mexican rice? It alludes me. Every recipe online is another “taco Tuesday” wannabe Martha Stewart. Too many ingredients for how simple it is in a restaurant.

  13. Gonzislao

Almost as true as a politician on campaing.

  14. Michipunda

I didn’t know “Mexican rice” was a thing that existed outside of Mexico until I went to Egypt and at a buffet there was this yellow rice with some vegetables labeled “Mexican rice”. It was yellow from turmeric and tasted like cumin. It was good but it tasted very Egyptian and zero Mexican. I don’t know what was supposed to be Mexican about it, maybe just the vegetables.

Now I see this and it’s also like huh? Our everyday rice is orangy/red because it’s cooked with tomato. This one is apparently red from red pepper. I don’t know if I’d like that, I think it would taste sweet.

  15. So, the Mexican people never farmed rice?
    I never knew that.

  16. PapaThyme

Ok (deep sigh). Please don’t for the love of all the Abuela’s 🙏

    Spanish, Mexican Rice is EZ.

Soak-Rinse 4 cups long grain rice for dos minutes
    Dry
Pan sear onions and garlic in tbls of oil, mexican seasoning and s&p (I like EVOO)
Add more oil and Rice and cook for 6 to 7 minutes
Add 3 cups of broth (I use homemade bone broth)
Add 3 cups of salsa of choice (homemade)
Cook on stove until liquid is reduced
Pop in oven for 15m at 375°
Take out stir gently with big fork and then add a bunch of chopped cilantro and green onions.
    S&P
    Back in oven 15
Take out and fluff your new favorite South of the Border Rice Delight.

So many ways to purpose this very healthy rice. Burritos, soups, side dishes, refried with other stuff to make a bowl.

  17. Khaki_Shorts

At least they’re calling it mexican style rice and not Spanish rice. However, jalapeños and red pepper? God, I’d be surprised if they didn’t add food coloring.

Look, I’m Mexican American and I just use rice, chicken bouillon, and half a can of duck hot sauce. It’s amazing every time.

  18. wrestling_coach2016

This is the fake shit sold to the people who don’t know any better 😂 real ones don’t know wtf this shit is

  19. Fearless_Quail1404

Anything this lazy is just American food.. American cuisine son puras flojadas doesn’t matter if it says Mexican lol

  20. That’s more like a Tex mex style rice, or an “american interpretation” of what Mexican food is, but I like to think food evolves, if it’s good, enjoy it, if not, put enough hot sauce over it to make you swear in Spanish “jijoesupu….que enchilosa está esta madre”

  21. long grain rice – 85% (water, long grain rice), red pepper – 6%, tomato puree – 4%, flavourings, sunflower oil, sugar, green jalapeño chilli – 0,4%, chilli powder, turmeric extract, salt

  22. Kukulkan_namor

This is why I don’t like grocery stores such as these…

  23. your concerns are valid and we shall take action.

Although i may state that in countries like the United states of america or the combined efforts of the european union do not have the resources reddealy avialable thus the go the more processed route but in fact my asian friend this is a sin against the rice eating brethering.

  24. GrilledAvocado

I wonder what the Mexican style flavor is?

  25. TheeMexicanProphet

If it’s not made with ingredients, it’s a crime. All that stuff is garbage.

  26. jesse-taylor

Rice has been grown in South American since at least 4000 years ago. Asia doesn’t “own” rice, it was also domesticated, as the say, in Africa around 2000 years ago. Nowhere on here does it say “made by Mexicans” or “made in Mexico,” it says Mexican “style.” Yeah of course this implies Americanization, but of what? Who exactly are you mad at here?

  27. So is it the fact that it’s packaged?

Is it that rice shouldn’t be cooked with onions, tomatoes and spices?

Is it that no other place in the world grows rice?

Shall we discuss Korean hotdogs and teriyaki burgers next?

When will the needless suffering END!

YOU MANIACS! YOU BLEW IT ALL TO HELL!

  28. Figmania

As a member of the Cajun community, I certainly don’t need any rice advice from a member of the Asian community. I cook rice dishes to feed hundreds of people.

We grow our own rice right here in South Louisiana. Have been doing so since Colonial times…..even specialty rice. We (Cajuns and Creoles) invented a whole new very unique American cuisine classification that is known worldwide…….rice is a staple here in Cajun Country.

I have no problem with that type of Mexican rice. To each their own.

WTF with your silly Asian attitude! ….like you must give your stamp of approval. Lol

  29. citlalmina

Rice is an integral part of the daily Mexican diet. It’s been for ages – is it a particular offence that we eat rice and have specific recipes and preferences to eat it, or more of an offence about this specific type of pre-packed rice?

  30. TaqueroNoProgramador

My wife is Asian (born and raised) and at first she wouldn’t even dare try it, she’d always have plain rice. Now it’s one of her favorites, although she still has plain rice often.

Rice doesn’t belong to you or to any country for that matter the same way corn or chilies don’t belong to us. Stop gatekeeping.

  31. Competitive_Yak1988

I feel for you my Asian brothers and sisters. These crimes will be answered for both of us.

  32. ItzmeHuricaneGilbert

Just because something has jalapeños and is spicy does not make it mexican.

    Burn that
