I swear it seems like other places have gotten the coolest Taco Bell items. 2015-2020 was my peak time of getting Taco Bell at the minimum or weekly and I don’t recall those tacos at all!

  2. GordonBombay11

What was I doing in 2017 that I don’t remember this

  3. oSocialPeanut

Well, it certainly can happen. They’re referring to the hard shell ones, and a big issue with those is alot of the times at least 1 row but often times more than one row is completely unusable from out of the box because they’re smashed or cracked.

I’ve had close encounters at my store but thankfully in the 2 years I’ve been manager it hasn’t happened. Also, during really busy times (around this time of the year is when it’s at the busiest) there more likely to be a shortage on an item because it’s hard to predict 12k dollar days 7 days a week.

Anyways, from a consumer perspective it would be funny. No tacos at tacobell? But from a managers perspective I’m just saying it’s very possible and probably happens more often than you would think.

Those cool habanero ones were great and the spicy sweet ones were good and interesting.

  5. AnimaSola3o4

Ever gone to burger King when they ran out of beef? Lmao

  6. Affectionate_Mango84

😭😭don’t remind me of those prices

  7. kevinmattress

My location ran out of ground beef once

  8. Your_As_Stupid_As_Me

Reminds me of McDonald’s by us when they ran out of buns…. They put everything on breakfast bagels and muffins lmao. NGL a Big Mac on a bagel slapped, messy as hell, but slapped.

  9. MissCalamityJade

God I miss those spicy sweet double stack tacos…

  10. joshuaafterdark

This reminds me of when I used to work at Starbucks and we ran out of iced coffee one weekend. It was HELL.😂😂😂

  11. cameron4200

I pulled up one time to hear “we’re out of ground beef, taco shells, rice, and refried beans.” They asked if I still wanted to order and I just like?? Order what??

  12. No-Raisin-6469

Dammit my TB doesn’t have double stackers.

I swear someone posted a list of december items and the DS was in it. I was confused with the Double decker

  13. AnnieB25

I was at a Panera once that happened to be out of all bread except cinnamon crunch bagels and white sandwich bread lol

  14. My old location ran out of chicken, steak and beef one night around 2007…. So why did they stay open? lol

  15. Sith_Moon

Miss those! I did find a Tabasco sauce that tastes similar to the spicy sweet sauce.

  16. thatbasketball1

Great price, I remember when a crunchy taco was under a $1 as well…think they were .79 each in the late 90’s early 2000’s

  17. Baby-Soft-Elbows

I just got back from my local TB and they didn’t have any mild sauce. Mild sauce, really?

  18. DarkPunisher956

$1! One fkn dollar! And it’s a double stack with other delicious sauces and ingredients in it. Meanwhile look how badly they did the Double Decker in pricing. If these ever come back it’ll be $5

This seems to happen at all taco stores at some time or another, though the oddest experience I had was at a competing taco chain. I frequently order a two hard shell taco meal and they said they were out of shells. I happened to have a coupon for something that’s equivalent to the Gordita Crunch or Double Stacked/Decker which they did get to me along with my alternate… so they did have shells, just trying to ration them I suppose.

  20. dubzi_ART

I think I read Taco Bell brought hard shells into the mainstream taco world.

  21. _how_do_i_reddit_

Mine was out of straws the other day. Had plenty of fucking cups on top of the machine though.

  22. Rossi4twenty

I’ve been to El Pollo Loco and they ran out of all things… Chicken.

  23. fushigi_username

The Taco Bell near me has only two full time employees. They only make 5 items per car in the drive thru. If you want two combo meals you literally need to drive through twice (not even being sarcastic). This picture reminds me of the way that store is ran.

  24. chadder_b

My cousin went to our local one and they were out of meat

  25. Formal_Royal_3663

It actually does happen more often than you think. Hell, even burger joints run out of hamburger and/or buns. It takes them time to get a hold of another location who they’re in good standing with to BORROW some of what they’re out of and then pay them back with how much of what they borrowed with what they get on their next truck. My Taco Bell location that I work at, we do it all the time, so it’s nothing new.

  26. Meatbank84

Oh man I want one of those cool habanero tacos so bad

  27. Sparkster227

2017 doesn’t feel like that long ago…and yet the prices feel like an eternity ago.

  28. JonathanStryker

Yeah, a few years ago, I went to my local one on a random Wednesday afternoon. They were out of the Dorito shells, they were out of the large tortillas they used to make the old xxl burritos and crunch wraps, they were basically out of sauce, napkins, and only had a handful of utensils left and a few other things.

I have no idea what went down that day, it was just like 4:00 p.m. on a random weekday. It was wild. I’ve gone there around that time on many other occasions before and since and haven’t had it happen any other time. I have no idea what made that day so crazy.

  29. _ecksdee

Man I went to taco bell in Destin once when I was on vacation, and they too had a sign that said they were out of taco shells. I was drunk and pissed off

  30. Ok-Complex-8217

I was a manager at Arby’s. I’ve ran out of roast beef. It happens. Random rushes and busy days that wipe your product out. People are assholes and don’t understand.

  31. iloveeveryfbteam

One time I went to a Burger King and they didn’t have any beef. Only chicken and fish which I definitely did not trust. Ended up waiting for their truck to get there lmao. And before you ask why I waited, I was in a small town (pop. 1000) in the middle of the night. The only other place open was a KFC

  32. Accomplished-Day5145

Last few times I’ve gone to Arby’s they were out of roast beef. It wasn’t even near closing

  33. Jaded-Significance86

Sorry we are out of tacos today please refer to us as “bell” until further notice

  34. At least they can fall back on offering soft shell tacos. One time my local KFC ran out of chicken, that was way worse.

  35. DeathOfAPrince

It happens.. once we had to throw away all hard shells because there was an awful smell. We were out of luck for a day being short staffed.

  36. dr_van_nostren

I don’t remember if it was 2017 or not but I do remember in the past there was a worldwide corn shortage, or maybe it was cornmeal? There was a reason like no taco shells could be had. So this doesn’t surprise me.

  37. PlusDescription1422

I miss them. Someone said they’re coming back?

  38. DingoGlittering

I once went to Burger King that was out of all menu items with “burger” in the name.

  39. GrumpadaWolf

You should see the hell break loose when we run out of hash browns during breakfast…

  40. lostsurfer24t

anytime they tell me theyre out of hard shells, or lettuce or something, i just drive away

  41. Bcatfan08

We didn’t run out once, but we’ve come close when we opened a couple boxes and the shells smelled rancid. Had to toss them. We got lucky we didn’t sell a ton that night.

  42. EmbarrassedAffect672

Oh my god you have a picture of the sweet and spicy double stack 🤯🤯🤯 I’ve wanted these to comeback for so long
