I've been building this collection unintentionally over the last year or so. It's a nice mixture. The $1 hot sauce kiosk at youknowwhere is quite the enabler.
Favorites (in no particular order): El YucatecoXXX, Bibigo gochujang, Collards and Ghost, Los Calientes Verde, Marie Sharp's Nopal Green Habanero, Melinda's Fire Roasted Garlic & Habanero.
Hottest: Probably the Melinda's Bhut Jolokia (the hot sauce, not the wing sauce), but the Collards and Ghost and the TJ's habanero are very close to it, and both of those have been in the fridge for a long while (rookie mistake). It is possible that they were equal to the Melinda's when I first opened them.
Weirdest: Inner Beauty. A New England staple now made in Bangor. Mustard is the first ingredient, which really accentuates the heat for me, as the only peppers are Scotch Bonnets and they are 5th on the list. Just plain weird to my pallette. I dip corn dogs into it though, and it is great for that.
Biggest disappointment: Nando's hot peri peri sauce. HOWEVER, if you like vinegar-y sauces, you might love it. I have learned that vinegar just doesn't do it for me on this little voyage of self discovery, and plenty of these sauces are just so-so to me, due to vinegar content.
Note: there is nothing super hot in here. I have a fairly "medium" spice preference, and even for my taste, these sauces top out at around a 7/10. I may try out a super hot sauce or two in the near future, but I haven't jumped at the chance to spend $20 on buying something online that I might not eat more than one a year. Raw pods (bird's eye and habanero) are available at my local supermarkets for literal pocket change, and I tend to eat one of those if I want to push my limits above my personal 7/10.
I'm very open to recommendations though.
