The other day I made the mistake of going to World Market when I was feeling down. I got a nice ginger beer and ube cookies but also ran out of chili crisp. I saw the tried and true Lao Gan on the bottom shelf, but I haven’t tried any other kind so I went with this instead. It was $15, which is insane, but I really like it! Mild – medium heat, very smooth and savory flavor, and the shallots are in fact crispy and yummy. I used it in stir fry first and then yesterday I tossed it with some veggie nuggets and fries 😋 it really hit the spot!

I was gifted the Momofuku one and it’s actually quite good.
If you’ve had Boon sauce, it’s really tasty, although it’s not a crisp, more of a Thai style chiu chow chili oil. And they have an extra hot one that’s very spicy.
