I go to Mexico a few times a month, so I have had the pleasure of trying some of their stuff. I think you might be able to buy these at stores in the U.S. but I definitely don’t see them here.
Honestly I think they got us beat. 😂
Perrona (red version) has been my favorite for months at this point. The red one is just great, not insanely spiced but definitely adds a little kick and the flavor is very good. Good easy grab for any Mexican food.
Salsa Huichol is great as well. Again, easy grab, not crazy spicey, good flavor (same realm as Valentina in my opinion, but better). Don’t like it quite as much as Perrona, but as far as my favorites go, it’s up there. Habanero and the original are both great pickups.
Salsas Orientales, the new guy in my lineup. Amazing creamy taco style sauce. Honestly I can see this green version becoming my favorite but I don’t want to crown it just yet. Added it to a turkey tenderloin and white rice dish I made last night and chefs kiss. It reminds me of the sauce you get at a taco joint in Mexico I like called Tacodrilos. They give you green and orange colored sauces. Salsas Orientales also has an orange colored sauce that resembles Tacodrilos sauces. If it’s anything similar I’m sure it’s great as well.
American Brand – Humble House
Both of these have amazing flavor, but basically no spice. I wouldn’t spend your time on them unless you don’t care about that.
The flavor is amazing though. They have quite a bit of sugar though so I’m assuming that’s what it’s from. (There are still layers to the flavors)
The Habanero and Aji Amarillo is my favorite of the two. Goes great with chicken and pork centered stuff. The Ancho and Morita works well layering with other stuff, especially on enchiladas.
Thought I would share, if you get the opportunity to try any of these, especially the Mexican brands, I highly recommend it, they are great drivers.
