My daughter called to ask about her dad’s chili recipe. Her dad died when she was nine and never cooked a day in his life. That was our code for “I’ve been kidnapped.”

  1. Having codes good but I feel like they also foreshadow the future like if you have made a code then it will definitely get used rather when you didn't made any

  2. Holy crap this is clever! Handled perfectly by all involved. My mom and I experimented with a safe word when I was a teen, but it never stuck and I never needed it. Never tried code phrases though.

  3. It’s 9 in the morning and I’m crying because I’m thinking I should teach my son this lesson to be safe and my niece now

  4. They really need to stop with the movie plot stories. That shit never happens in real life. The kidnapper is not going to let a phone call like that happen. Too much information and too many impossible things happening
