When they get it right, Trader Joe's Jalapeño Sauce is one of my favorite all-purpose sauces. I can pour it on anything. It adds great jalapeño flavor and the perfect level of heat. It's 5 out of 5 stars, but not always.
It's such a gamble buying this stuff because they don't seem to have very good quality control on the final product. I've had bottles where there's hardly any flavor at all. It's just sort of oily. At first I thought it was just me, but then my daughter (who shops at Trader Joe's in a completely different region) made the same comment.
My daughter's theory is that with such a high percentage of jalapeños, you get some natural variance in the product.
Ingredients: JALAPEÑO PEPPERS, CANOLA OIL, ONION, SALT, CANE SUGAR, GUM ARABIC, ONION POWDER, GARLIC POWDER, CITRIC ACID (ACIDIFIER), SPICE.
