I went back to the store for more Lindo Mexico hot sauces because I really liked the red habenero BUT like others stated I really don’t like the fact they use dye as ingredients.
But this one… I’ve seen people post this brand a lot. But wow I can’t believe this is mass manufactures for sale. It tastes like charcoal dust mixed with habanero.
Terrible

I’ve found El Yucateco to be very hit or miss. Their sauces are very pepper forward with not a lot of other flavors, so if you don’t like that particular pepper, you won’t like the sauce. But this sauce is terrible. I don’t know anyone that would like it.
Definitely try their Caribbean hot sauce though. It’s one of my favorites out there.
Man I had that one in my cupboard for like a year after trying it once before throwing it out. I always told myself I’d use it as a marinade for either beef jerky or grilling. I never did.
Edit: try the green or red ones of that same brand. You literally picked the worst one. Best for flavor is the green one imo
Noooooo bad opinion
Absolutely top tier either way cold potatoes cake
It’s very divisive. Some people love it, a lot of people think it’s gross. Not a fan personally.
It’s a “love it or hate it” type of sauce. I personally love it, but if it’s not your thing that’s okay.
Agree!!!! I was so glad. I only tried it on one bite of my food. Didn’t ruin the whole meal.
I agree, it’s gross
Some people don’t have taste, but that’s ok.
Tastes like gunpowder. I love it on some things but would not use it on just whatever like most sauces
One of my faves.
This is actually one of my absolute favorite sauces. Finished a bottle under a week.
Agreed. The fact that it looks like it rained in a dirty ashtray doesn’t help it.
Too many unnecessary ingredients in this one for me
That’s easily in my top 5 favorites.
100% agree in not liking this one. Red, green, Caribbean, xxx, those are all amazing. This one though, ugh, no thanks.
I love some of their other sauces, and like most of them, but not that one. Your description is just what I thought too.
Absolutely love it. As someone who smokes a lot of meats, this is a good representation of a Smokey type hot sauce.
If you’re not into that that cool. I also got trashed for hating their ghost and Caribbean sauces. I think both are trash. A lot of people love them. It’s okay to have different pallets.
Tastes like it has powdered tire as an ingredient.
The cilantro of hot sauces. Nobody who tries it has a neutral opinion about this stuff. I love it. Wish it was hotter though
Love the brand but this one is doo doo
I haven’t tried the black Yucateco but I’ve tried those two Mexico Lindo and they’re some of the worst I’ve tried.
If I could have an infinite supply of this and green Tabasco I’d be set for life.
Try the Mexico Lindo Xxtra hot Chiltepin, it’s in my daily rotation. The new Yucateco Chiltepin is great, too
I actually really like it, I love that it’s so incredibly smokey.
It’s not an everyday sauce and I only use it in _very_ specific situations e.g. with BBQ sauce or BBQ’d meats and sometimes in guacamole.
I can understand why people don’t like it though.
I think its a great sauce
Lol…. That’s absolutely one of my favorites
The most polarizing sauce on this sub!
I love bbq and smoke flavor but I do think I’d like this sauce more if it was toned down a bit.
To those who love it, I’m curious, what do you put it on? I don’t want my eggs and Grandma’s Chicken Bake tasting like smoke.
El Yucateco standard red, green, or XXX, are decent for flavor and good for above average heat. But XXX kinda has a harder flavor to get used to. Outside those 3, IMO Yucateco becomes experimental and hit and miss. Almost always miss. But the 3 I’ve listed have little to no plastic flavor profile. I put it in albondegas, cup noodle, mac n cheese, caldo, mashed potatoes, popcorn, eloté, ect. Just enough to add heat, not enough to taste. You can make your favorite non hot hot sauce hot with it lol like Valentino, tabasco, tapatio, or cholula.
I put that shit in chili and taco meat, and it adds a distinct, smoky/earthy note I enjoy. I don’t like it alone as a topper; use it like an ingredient.
Different strokes cuz that’s my #1 of all time, great on everything.
It’s alright, but Yucateco rates this one as hotter than XXX which is a complete lie.
Totally understand where you’re coming from. On its own? Yeah, tastes like licking a dirty cast iron, but if you use it for deglazing a pan for steaks to make a demi-glace 🤌
I can’t stand it either. It’s wild how everyone thinks it’s either “amazing and unique and irreplaceable” or “totally inedible.”
If I am going to do a BBQ / smoke sauce, I love me some Marie Sharpe’s Smokin sauce.. it is sooo good imo. I really don’t like this black one, at all.
I will say that every other yucateco has been absolutely amazing. The Caribbean one was the sole reason I got into hot sauce
