Crushed Chilli Pickle Recipe | Durban Style Green Chilli Pickle with Pickle Masala 🌶️ #food



A bold, fiery favourite made in small batches, this crushed chilli pickle is rich, punchy, and packed with flavour.

There’s something special about a good chilli pickle. It doesn’t just sit on the side of your plate, it brings everything together. This crushed chilli pickle is strong, vibrant, and full of depth, with layers of toasted spices and that unmistakable tang from pickle masala.

Just a quick note before we begin, I did over blend my chillies but the flavour is still absolutely delicious.

Crushed Chilli Pickle Ingredients:

Homeade Masala (small batch):
* 1 tablespoon coriander (dhania) seeds
* ½ tablespoon cumin (jeera) seeds
* ½ tablespoon mustard seeds
* 1 teaspoon fennel (soomph) seeds
* ¼ teaspoon fenugreek (methi) seeds
* 4-5 dried red chillies

Chilli Base:
* 130 grams green chillies
* 3-4 cloves garlic
* ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
* ¼ cup white spirit vinegar 

To Finish:
* ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
* ½ cup sunflower oil
* 3 tablespoon wet pickle masala (or normal pickle masala)
* ¼ cup oil (added at the end)
