Hi everyone! I’m brand new to pepper gardening and just started my journey into growing peppers. I live in an apartment in Phoenix, so for the foreseeable future I’ll be doing a full container/planter garden, but this has honestly been a dream hobby of mine and I’m excited to finally start.
Right now I have 5 pepper plants:
A pepper combo planter with habanero, serrano, and jalapeño together
Individual serrano
Individual jalapeño
Individual habanero
Thai chili
I got the combo planter on sale and figured even if it ends up being overkill, I could always separate or gift some later on.
I recently bought Miracle-Gro Vegetable & Herb fertilizer and plan on starting to use it shortly.
I had a couple beginner questions:
Each plant is currently in a 4 qt planter, is that an okay size for starter plants?
Since my combo pot has a habanero, serrano, and jalapeño together, should I separate them eventually or leave them together if they seem happy?
Since I’m in Phoenix and we’re heading into hotter weather, should I care for them differently than people in milder climates?
They currently get morning sun, which I figured might help protect them from the intense afternoon Arizona heat.
I’m very much a beginner, so any tips, advice, or things you wish you knew when starting out would be super appreciated. Looking forward to learning from everyone here!
