Gerald and Harold

Long time lurker.

Wanted to introduce folk to Gerald and Harold!

These two assholes are jalapeno plants we've overwintered in our garage for 2 years now. I have an annoying habit of giving names to things that annoy me and these stuck.

We're not sure if they're brothers or dating but we don't ask. Each "tree" is almost 6 feet tall.

We lost the tags for these guys early on but we know one of them was a mammoth jalapeno.

What's interesting is that Gerald has been producing what we call "bellapenos" for the past year. Some of the fruit just grows like a bell pepper. Heat wise they're definitely milder than a jalepeno (though jalapenos are already super mild imho).

Harold thinks he can grow serranos as best I can tell.

It's been really nice though to have a really good milder jalapeno for some folks I make hot sauce. Those people will eat the "bellapenos" raw where they wouldn't do so with a standard jalapeno.

There's also a bonus shot of our fish pepper that we saved over winter this year as well. It just got it's first fruit.

None of my other overwinters from this year have started fruiting yet but they're close. My Aji Amarillo did really well last year so I saved one of them.

Edit: just realized I got the name tag pic's text wrong lol
