I took a close look at my lunchbox pepper plant today and notice that there seems to be a second stem from the base, which from the color difference i'm thinking might be a separate plant rather than a low branch.
The leaves look slightly different, and some of the lower stem sprouts have reddish stems but the main plant doesn't.

Yeah that’s something else entirely. Not sure what. Reminds me a bit of swiss chard but with rounder leaves. Definitely not a pepper.
