Ingredients
For Boiling Soy Chunks
2 cups soy chunks
4 cups water
½ tsp salt
For Coating
4 tbsp cornflour
3 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
½ tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp black pepper powder
½ tsp ginger-garlic paste
Salt to taste
Water as needed
Oil for frying
For Manchurian Sauce
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chopped garlic
1 tbsp chopped ginger
2 green chillies (slit)
1 medium onion (cubed)
½ green capsicum (cubed)
½ red capsicum (optional)
2 tbsp spring onion
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp red chilli sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp vinegar
1 tsp green chilli sauce (optional)
½ tsp black pepper
Salt (only if needed)
½ cup water
1 tsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water
Method
Boil soy chunks for 5 minutes. Rinse with cold water and squeeze out excess water.
Mix soy chunks with coating ingredients to make an even batter.
Deep fry until golden and crispy.
Heat oil and sauté garlic, ginger, and green chillies.
Add onions and capsicum; stir-fry on high flame for 2 minutes.
Add ketchup, chilli sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, green chilli sauce, black pepper, and mix well.
Pour in water and bring to a boil.
Add the cornflour slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
Add fried soy chunks and toss well until coated.
Garnish with spring onions and serve hot.
Tips
Squeeze soy chunks well after boiling for the best texture.
Fry on medium-high heat for extra crispiness.
Add extra green chillies for a spicier version.
Serve immediately to keep the soy chunks crispy.
