Now his ex-wife, Jill Stein, has revealed in an interview with The Telegraph that her former husband would “complain” that she spent too long of a time in the bath.

She said: “Rick always used to complain that I spent too much time in the bath. But I’d have a bath to change over from being “Mum” to having my “restaurateur” hat on.

“I spend a lot of time thinking about things; it helps me have ideas. I think one of the troubles with the world today is that people don’t have the time to have ideas, because they’re so busy.

“A bath has always been vital to me – it’s my think tank.”

Mr Stein studied English at Oxford, and during his time as a student, he maintained a long‑term relationship with Jill.

The couple later married, remained together for many years while building their businesses, and eventually divorced after their relationship broke down.

Mr Stein began a relationship with Sarah Burns, a publicist who had worked with his company, having met in 1997 while he was still married to Jill.

The affair eventually led to the end of his first marriage, and he went on to marry his second wife in 2011, with the couple now living between Australia and the UK.
