There’s a jam-packed weekend of Bay Area festivals scheduled for Aug. 15-16. Among the highlights:
Fremont’s Festival of India: The Bay Area’s largest and longest-running India Independence Day celebration — the 34th annual FOG (Festival of Globe) — will run all weekend in Fremont. Events include a Saturday dance competition, a two-day fair (mela), food booths and the big Sunday parade. India Day in San Jose: The Swades 2026 festival on Saturday will mark America’s 250th anniversary and India’s 79th independence day with cultural performances, a food festival, vendors and a parade at 4 p.m. Sponsored by the Association of Indo Americans. India Day in Sunnyvale: A limited number of free tickets are available for this family-friendly cultural celebration Saturday at the Sunnyvale Community Center featuring music, performances and food. Foster City Summer Days: This festival at Leo Ryan Park offers carnival rides, a car show, entertainment, crafts and community booths, food and beverage stands and a Rubber Ducky Scavenger Hunt.
