Mustang High School band students volunteer with Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma
A select group of band members and their parents served at the Regional Food Bank’s volunteer center in Oklahoma City Tuesday night.

Mustang High School band students and parents joined Oklahoma’s fight against hunger. They partnered with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma for a “Day of Service.”
A select group of band members and their parents served at the Regional Food Bank’s volunteer center in Oklahoma City Tuesday night. They helped launch the organization’s 2026 “Students Against Hunger” initiative. “Our community does so much for students, and they want a way to give back,” said Kristin Ritchter, a former president of the Mustang Band Club who attended the event.
Members of the school’s drumline greeted those who took part. They performed as volunteers arrived. Ritchter said only a small group of the 300 member band was able to take part. “It’s a very selective process,” she said. “Most of our students tonight are actually in at least one honor society, so they’re actually getting volunteer hours for their honor society.”
For some students, lending a helping hand is personal. “There are some students who are hungry,” said Ritchter. “If they come here and serve, they can make a difference in their peer’s life.”
The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s “Students Against Hunger” initiative runs through November 30. Participating schools will be eligible to compete for awards recognizing their efforts.
