BALTIMORE — Police say a 3-year-old boy was shot in Baltimore Wednesday night around 9 p.m. and rushed to the hospital in a patrol car.
In a correction issued Thursday evening, police confirmed that the young child injured was a 3-year-old boy, as initially described by Police Commissioner Richard Worley in the press conference on Wednesday evening. Police earlier on Thursday had said the victim was a 4-year-old girl.
BPD also updated that the 3-year-old and a 16-year-old female victim are still in the hospital, the other five victims have since been released.
A police officer heard the gunshots, responded to the 1400 block of East Fayette Street and found the child, along with six other victims.

Commissioner Richard Worley said a total of seven victims have been identified. All of them are expected to survive the shooting.
Worley called the shooters cowards and Mayor Brandon Scott urged them to turn themselves in.
“There is no way, no beef, no argument, no amount of money, no anything that can legitimize this kind of act, especially when you’re talking about a 3-year-old child, and every single soul in the city, as I said before, if this is your son, drag his ass by his hair down to the police department and turn him in,” said Scott.

Investigators are still working to learn what led up to the shooting.
