Wingstop, the fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in chicken wings, will take over the former Cumberland Farms location at 1076 East Main St., according to Torrington’s Office of Economic Development.
The Torrington Planning and Zoning Commission approved Wingstop’s proposal Sept. 16. Applicant Akhil Ganteti received the approval, according to the commission’s transcript. Ganteti is the district manager for Wingstop locations in Middletown, Danbury and Wallingford, according to previous CT Insider reporting.
Wingstop has locations in several Connecticut municipalities including Branford, Bridgeport, Bristol, Danbury, Derby, East Hartford, Hamden, Hartford, Mashantucket, Middletown, New Britain, New Haven, Vernon, Wallingford, Waterbury and Wethersfield, according to its website.
Richard Lopez of Torrington’s Office of Economic Development confirmed the opening Friday but said he did not have an opening date. Officials at Wingstop could not be reached for comment.
Wingstop opened its first U.S. location in 1994, according to the company’s website. It now has more than 3,000 locations worldwide, according to the website. The chain offers cooked-to-order classic and boneless wings, tenders, chicken sandwiches and sides in a variety of flavors.
