NeighborImpact has received a $50,000 grant from The Rosendin Foundation to support its sponsorship of the Child and Adult Care Food Program, helping Central Oregon child care providers access reimbursement for nutritious meals and snacks served to children in their care.
The Child and Adult Care Food Program, or CACFP, is a federal nutrition program that reimburses participating child care providers for eligible meals and snacks. NeighborImpact’s Child Care Resources is the only CACFP sponsor for child care programs in Central Oregon, helping participating providers access the federal program and its meal reimbursements.
For providers already operating on narrow margins, food can represent a significant cost of providing care. CACFP helps offset those costs while supporting meals that meet federal nutrition standards.
“Child care providers want to serve children healthy, nutritious food, but those costs add up quickly,” said Karen Prow, director of NeighborImpact Child Care Resources. “CACFP helps providers offer those meals without having to absorb the entire cost or pass it along to families. This grant helps NeighborImpact continue making that federal resource available to child care providers throughout Central Oregon.”
The $50,000 award comes through The Rosendin Foundation’s grants program, which supports nonprofit organizations addressing nutritional, emotional and occupational health.

The grant will support NeighborImpact’s CACFP sponsorship, which gives local child care providers access to federal reimbursement for nutritious meals and snacks served to children in their care.
“Support like this has an impact beyond any one meal,” Prow said. “It supports the sustainability of local child care businesses while helping ensure children have nutritious food during the hours they spend in care.”
