Michelle Lynam, from Midlothian, Virginia, had just brought home a pumpkin for Halloween when she discovered that something had already gotten to it.Lynam had been wondering how soon would be too soon to carve the pumpkin with her family when she noticed a sizeable hole had been chewed into its side.The culprit turned out to be a hungry squirrel, which had apparently decided it was time for an early Halloween feast.Lynam captured the damage and the unexpected visitor on camera, showing the squirrel near the pumpkin after it had helped itself to a snack.”So, I just got my pumpkin for Halloween and I was wondering how soon would be too soon to carve it,” Lynam says in the footage.”But I guess I’ll never know cuz this little rascal decided to help himself to our pumpkin.”As she looks over the damage, Lynam jokingly scolds the squirrel for ruining her plans.”You nasty little thing. Don’t you have anything better to do?” she says.The squirrel’s appetite left the pumpkin with a sizeable hole and put an end to Lynam’s plans for carving it as originally intended.Despite the damage, the unexpected encounter gave the Virginia homeowner a funny Halloween story — and a reminder that leaving a pumpkin outside can sometimes attract more than just trick-or-treaters.
