Which borough has the best pizza in New York City?
A recent report that combines Google customer ratings with sanitation scores says any way you slice it, the answer is Manhattan.
The research comes from bike rental provider Holland Bikes, which analyzed over 11,000 New York eateries using NYC Department of Health restaurant inspection data and Google customer ratings.
After crunching the numbers, the report found that 60% of top-rated pizza joints are located in Manhattan.

Each pizzeria was scored on five weighted indicators: health inspection grade (30%), total number of Google ratings (20%), share of five-star ratings (15%), share of one-star ratings (15%), and average Google rating (20%).
By this Margherita math, Pizzazz in Gramercy Park earned the biggest piece of the pie.
Located just north of Union Square, the Neapolitan-style pizzeria serves relatively cheap personal pan pies from $13 to $18 — and scored an impressive (and palindromic!) score of 81.18 out of 100.
Slice-by-slice, that means Pizzazz received an average rating of 4.96 out of 5, based on 1,057 Google reviews. 97.6% diners gave it a five-star rating.

“ABSOLUTELY incredible,” lauded a recent Google review. “I was skeptical about how ratings could be 5 stars, but this is better than all the otherw hot spots.”
Second place also went to a Manhattan joint: Alphabet City’s Pop’s Pizza, which scored a 79.78 rating based on 1,324 reviews.
Fans of the East Village hangout noted the high quality of the pies and the reliable, respectful customer service.
“Everything you’d want in a New York slice,” raved a recent review.
Third place went to Crazy Chef Pizza in Queens, which scored 78.92.
Reviews shout out the chef and owner “Paco” for his inventive pies and immaculate vibes.
“BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD,” enthused an all-caps review.
“The workers are mad positive and kind!! Told the guy who works here to choose a pizza for me, and he did not disappoint. DEFINITELY worth trying out.”
But it was back to Manhattan for the fourth-rated best pie: Slicehaus Pizzeria in Greenwich Village with a score of 78.88.
Slicehaus bills itself as “born to reimagine the classic New York slice shop in the heart of the West Village” with fermented crust and unexpected toppings like vodka sauce and shishito peppers.
“Such an amazing place. The owner is so friendly, and the pizza is phenomenal. I started with one slice because I wanted to try it out without committing too hard. I immediately got 4 more slices because I had to have more,” reads a recent review.
Rounding out the top five is Saucey Pizza Bar in Queens with a score of 78.01.
Per their website, “Every pizza is a testament to our commitment to quality and flavor, ensuring each bite is as satisfying as the last.”
Satisfying slices include the Burrata Babe and the Capri State of Mind, which is topped with ricotta, caramelized onion, crispy prosciutto, basil, fresh pepper and lemon zest.
“Everything A1. From the hospitality to the food to the drinks. There’s not one thing to complain about. Everything on the menu is delicious,” testified a recent review.
The beloved restaurant also hosts pizza-making classes Wednesday through Sunday.
NYC is widely considered the pizza capital of the US, with 18% of the country’s best pizza joints within city limits.
In February, Manhattan chain Mama’s Too was named the best pizza on the planet by Time Out magazine.
Earlier this year, the Post crowned another Manhattan spot, Pizza Studio Tamaki in the East Village, the supreme place for pizza, calling the New York-style pies “decadent, overly abundant heaven.”
