Friend got me this sampler because she knows I love hot sauce. I’ve tried about 6 of the sauces now and they’re all just the same salty slurry with no difference in flavor whatsoever. It’s just 30 labels on the same shitty salty liquid.

Unfortunately, this happens way too often. Most of the hot sauce gift packs on the mass market are pure slop like this.
I feel like it’s preying on well intentioned friends and relatives, which is what bothers me more than the bland sauce itself. Fortunately, most of the people in my life know this trick by now, so it’s not a huge problem for me personally.
Fall brings the return of “my partner/relative got me a crappy hot sauce multi-pack” season. My mom got me a similar one last year and I poured all the bottles into a single container and to no one’s surprise it tasted exactly as any of them on their own. 😂

I got something like this at a family white elephant gift exchange. Was really excited to try different hot sauces from “around the world” but the whole box of a dozen or so are all way too similar. 🙃
Same thing happened to me with the “around the world” sampler thing they had at Costco before.
Another great idea example of when you have a friend with an interest, you should ask them about specifics for just blindly buying something you see related to it.
Use them for cooking when the flavor doesn’t matter and all you need is some heat, acidity, & salt.
