Feed the Need Wednesdays at the State Fair of Texas – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

NBC 5, Telemundo 39, State Fair of Texas, and the North Texas Food Bank are Fighting Hunger! Every Wednesday from now through October 14, donate five cans of food and your admission is only $7! This deal is a great way to give back to the community and save big!

The annual Feed the Need food drive helps feed families across the region through the North Texas Food Bank. Since it began in 1995, more than 4.9 million pounds of canned food have been donated. Last year alone, approximately 121,00 meals were provided from donations alone.

Feed the Need Wednesdays ends at 5:00 p.m.

About the North Texas Food Bank
The North Texas Food Bank addresses the critical issue of hunger in our community by distributing donations of surplus food and grocery products through a network of charitable organizations. The North Texas Food Bank is a certified member of the Feeding America Food Bank Network. Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, solicits food and grocery products from national suppliers, distributes them through more than 200 food banks and provides food banks with operational support. It also educates the public and government officials about the ongoing problem of hunger.

About the State Fair of Texas
Since its inception in 1886, the State Fair of Texas has celebrated all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment. The State Fair of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with proceeds helping to preserve and improve Fair Park; underwrite museums, community initiatives, and scholarship programs to support students throughout the Lone Star State pursuing higher education; and help improve State Fair operations. As part of its mission to contribute on a local and state-wide level, The Fair gives back through its partnerships with charities like the North Texas Food Bank, provides 2.1 million free admission tickets for North Texas students and teachers, sponsors local community programs, gives college scholarships, hosts more than 1,100 creative competitions, provides 6,000 seasonal jobs, and adds hundreds of millions of dollars to the North Texas economy.
