Burger She Wrote smashes into Brentwood

Burger She Wrote will open its third and largest location on Oct. 3 in Brentwood, expanding the Los Angeles smashburger brand to the Westside.

The restaurant, located at 11686 San Vicente Blvd., follows the opening of a Sherman Oaks location in May and joins the original Burger She Wrote on Beverly Boulevard. Additional locations are planned for Silver Lake and Manhattan Beach.

The menu centers on the Oklahoma Burger, made with Snake River Farms American wagyu beef, onions and King’s Hawaiian buns. Other offerings include classic and Impossible smashburgers, grilled cheese, fries and house-made sauces.

“At the end of the day, it’s just a burger restaurant, but I want guests to leave thinking it was a great one,” co-founder Don “Nuge” Nguyen said. “We didn’t invent the burger, or the wheel, but it’s like we took the wheel and made a spaceship by elevating the smashburger with way better ingredients.”

Nguyen, a professional skateboarder and designer, co-founded Burger She Wrote in 2021 with restaurateur Steven Arroyo and Muse Lifestyle Group’s Mikayel Israyelyan. The restaurant has developed connections to Los Angeles skateboarding, music and fashion culture.

The Brentwood restaurant has approximately 25 seats, including indoor, outdoor and counter seating. Its interior includes hand-painted menus, neon signs and photography by skateboarding and culture photographers Atiba Jefferson, Ed Templeton and Estevan Oriol. Vintage furnishings and the brand’s green, blue, beige and white tile patterns are also featured throughout the space.

“The first spot on Beverly Boulevard has always felt like the kind of small-town burger joint that’s been around for decades, and that has informed our desire to open in these tight-knit communities, like Brentwood and Sherman Oaks,” Israyelyan said.

Burger She Wrote Brentwood will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m.

Patty Boys celebrates Sunset Boulevard opening

Patty Boys will hold a grand opening celebration on Oct. 3 from noon-7 p.m. at its Sunset Boulevard restaurant, marking one year since the burger shop began serving customers.

The family-run restaurant, located at 7917 Sunset Blvd., will offer giveaways, free ice cream for some guests and music from a DJ throughout the event.

Three guests will win “Golden Tickets,” each providing one double burger per month for one year. Every purchase during the celebration will also come with a Patty Boys gift, while the first 100 customers who present an in-store receipt will receive a free scoop from a Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream truck stationed outside the restaurant. Delivery orders through DoorDash and Uber do not qualify for the ice cream promotion.

“We built Patty Boys around burgers, friends and community, and this is our chance to throw the neighborhood a proper party,” owner Roman Shishalovsky said. “Come hungry, bring everyone you know, and maybe walk out with a Golden Ticket.”

Shishalovsky, a longtime Los Angeles restaurateur, opened Patty Boys with partners Aleksandr Polovitkin and Boris Gurtovyi. His previous restaurant ventures include Uzbekistan, Rasputin, Roman’s Fresh Bakery & Grill, Fresh Cutt Carving Grill and Carvery Kitchen.

Patty Boys offers customizable burgers served on toasted brioche buns, with beef, chicken, bacon, lamb and falafel patties available. Customers can choose among several topping combinations, including the OG, Oklahoma, Classic and Fire Starter.

The menu also includes several double-patty “Chef’s Picks,” fries and tater tots cooked in avocado oil, onion rings, chicken tenders, crispy green beans and other sides. Milkshakes, soft drinks and beer are also available.

The Oct. 3 celebration will include a DJ on the restaurant’s patio throughout the afternoon.
