Asian night market returns to Oklahoma City with food, activities, and celebrity guest
The Asian night market festival is back this weekend in Oklahoma City, featuring over 100 vendors, activities, and an after-party with celebrity guest Kim Lee
The Asian night market festival is returning to Oklahoma City this weekend, offering two nights of food, performances, and activities in the Asian District.
The event will stretch along Classen Boulevard from Northwest 23rd to Northwest 27th streets and feature more than 100 food trucks and vendors.
“It’s just a great opportunity to be able to capture and see all the different aspects of what Asian culture looks like here in Oklahoma City,” said Steve Le, executive director of the Asian District Cultural Association.
Last year, the festival drew an estimated 80,000 attendees, and organizers are expecting an even larger crowd this year after the event was voted the second-best night market in the country by USA Today.
“The fact that we get to showcase this and the fact that we get to share even more of this rich history of the Asian district, with Route 66 as well,” Le said.
The festival’s impact extends beyond the weekend, according to local business owner James Vu, who said the event helps highlight small businesses in the area.
“This is a good opportunity, not just for people to see the Asian district, but it encourages small businesses like these food trucks to maybe hopefully say, you know what, this is an opportunity for me to do a brick-and-mortar in the Asian district,” said Vu, owner of La Brasa and Yours Truly.
New this year, organizers are adding an after-party featuring a special celebrity appearance by Kim Lee.
The Asian night market runs from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
