Community Cooperative hosts ‘Hunger is Scary’ food drive throughout month of October

Community Cooperative’s “Hunger is Scary” food drive is collecting nonperishable food items and monetary donations through October 30 to support local families in need.

Community Cooperative is asking Gulf Coast residents to help fight hunger this October by participating in its “Hunger is Scary” food drive, which runs through October 30.

The drive is collecting unopened and unexpired canned and nonperishable food items, with canned vegetables especially needed. Any appropriate nonperishable items can help stock Community Cooperative’s food assistance programs.

Community Cooperative says people can also get involved by hosting their own food drives through businesses, schools, churches, neighborhoods, or community groups. Monetary donations are also encouraged, as they help the organization buy the foods that are needed most at the time.

The goal is to ensure local families have access to nutritious food not just during spooky season, but all year long.

Community Cooperative encourages anyone with extra canned goods to donate and help scare hunger away. For more information on how you can get involved, click here.
