When folks think of Maine’s food scene, they likely think of Portland. And for good reason, it’s one of the best small cities in America for food lovers. However, Portland is no longer the only place that deserves the love, as Maine’s food scene has certainly expanded.
Just a few minutes from Maine’s largest city, this community has all the ingredients you’d want—friendly people, an classic New England downtown, and a growing lineup of fantastic places to eat and drink. And yes, I might be a little biased… it also happens to be my hometown.

Welcome to Gorham, Maine, a town whose growth has exceeded all expectations (seriously, where do all these neighborhoods come from?), especially when it comes to its food options.
Heck, when I was growing up in the late ’80s and ’90s, Gorham had about three choices. Thankfully, one of those was Gorham House of Pizza, the greatest restaurant known to man. Just ask anyone who grew up in Gorham, and they’ll back me up.
Of course, it’s tough to eat pizza every day, so seeing all the options available now is a pretty great change.
Today, you’ll find a diverse and welcoming dining scene in Gorham, with something to satisfy every palate. It’s a great mix of long-time local staples and exciting new spots just beginning their culinary journeys—even as recently as this past spring.
